Harvest Moon Paradise
In Harvest Moon FOMT there are 5 different animals. They are: Dog,
Horse, Sheep, Cow, Chicken. In previous games such as Harvest Moon 64 and
Harvest Moon: Back To Nature, these were also the five animal choices, however,
the animal's capabilities have increased in this game in some areas.
Dog-
Before your dog would just roam your farm and participate in a dog race once a year. In this version the dog not only has a ball, but he has a Frisbee as well. The dog race has been eliminated in this version and the dog Frisbee event has been added. You can view information about the Frisbee event in the festivals section. The dog is very easy to care, you just need to pick him up and drop him daily. You can also buy the ball in Won's shop for 100G, and the Frisbee from Won's store for 5000G.
Horse-
Barley will come to your farm sometime in the fist Spring and ask if you want to take care of a horse. If you say yes, you can raise it to enter the local horse race and maybe even win it. However, if your horse is not at least at 8 hearts by the time the year is up it will be taken away. He sometimes comes back eventually and gives you another horse, but I have only had this happen if I planted at least 20 bags of grass. To take care of the horse you need to buy the brush for 800G from Yodel farm. It only needs to be brushed once a day. You can also talk to the horse and ride it. Once your horse is full grown you can enter it in the Local Horse race. There is more on that in the festivals section.
Cow-
The cows can be purchased from Yodel farm for 5000G. They need to be brushed and spoken too everyday. Fodder can be bought for 20G each at yodel ranch or it could be cut by cutting grass in your field. They can be left outside but watch out for wild animals. They can be milked once they turn into an adult. The milker can be purchased for 2000G from the blacksmith. The milk quality will depend on the heart affection they have. From 0-3 hearts they will produce small milk worth 100G, 4-7 hearts will produce medium milk worth 150G. Large milk will be produced for 200G with 8-10 hearts.
There are a few types of premium milks. One is G milk which will be produced if your cow wins the cow festival, but if you have a cow that has been outside for more than 600 hours as well as winning the cow festival it will produce P milk worth 500G. In rare occasions you might get X milk which is worth 800 G. Cheese can be made check the blacksmith section for that.
Your cow can also give birth. To make it have a baby you have to buy the potion from Yodel farm for 3000G. Equip the potion and stand next to the cow to spray it. After a while the cow will give birth to a calf. The cow must be an adult cow to do this.
Chicken:
Chickens are fairly easy to take care of. They cost 1500G each and can be bought at the poultry farm. Once you have them and they lay eggs though you can hatch them in the incubator. In under a week you will have a new chicken, so therefore it is useless to ever buy a chicken again once you are getting eggs. A small egg is laid if the chicken is on 0-3 hearts and you will net 50 G, a medium egg is 4-7 hearts worth 60 G, a large egg is 8-10 hearts worth 80G, a gold egg is given after your chicken wins the chicken festival and is worth 100G, the P egg is given if you win the chicken festival+ 600 hours of outdoor time. Sometimes your chicken will lay an X egg worth 350G. Eggs can also be spa boiled by going to the hot spring and throwing it in. These eggs are worth 80G. Each day you need to pick up and put down the chicken. You also need to feed it. Feed cost 10G each and can be bought at the poultry farm. If you place your chicken down and you see a skull icon, it means the chicken is sick. Go to the Poultry farm and buy the medicine for 1000G. This medicine can also be used on cows and sheep. The chicken can be left outside if you want, but make sure you fence it and put it inside if it rains.
Sheep:
The sheep is similar to the cow. It needs daily fodder, brushing, and talking everyday. The sheep will be able to cut wool almost immediately from purchase. You can buy the scissors from the blacksmith for 1800G. The sheep can give birth like the cow and will cost 3000G, but MAKE SURE the sheep has wool or the potion is useless. Small wool is given for 0-3 hearts and gives 100G, medium wool is given 4-7 hearts and gives 400G, large wool is given for 8-10 hearts and gives 500G, gold wool is given for winning the sheep festival and gives 600G, P wool is given for winning the sheep festival and 600 hours of playing time it is worth 1000G, sometimes the sheep will give X wool and that is worth 2000G. The sheep can make yarn but that will be covered in the blacksmith section.
