Harvest Moon 64 Review
Harvest Moon 64 released on December 23, 1999 is a farming simulator game for the Nintendo 64. While one might think, a simulator is an in-depth and confusing game that has a steep learning curve; Harvest Moon 64 can be played by all ages. You are Jack, a farmer, who is taking over your late grandfather’s farm. The farm has been neglected for quite some time and it is your job to get it back into shape within a 3-year time. During your stay, you will encounter festivals, villagers, animals, horse races, and even the ability to get married to that lucky lady. With five lucky ladies to choose from, the game gives a great variety of courtship events and relationship development, but watch out wait too long and your love might choose someone else. The game is relatively easy to play. You start with a select number of tools, which are there to aid your farm life. Use your hoe to till the soil, use your hammer to break rocks, water the plants with your watering can, the possibilities are endless. If you have never played the Harvest Moon Series before this is a good game to try as it is very simple and addicting to get into. The game play is relatively easy to pick up and you will have hours of fun doing so. However, if you have played the Harvest Moon Series before, this game might be confusing to you, because the exact same characters are in Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, however, in this game they have different families than they do in back to nature. For example, in Harvest Moon 64 Elli marries Jeff, but in Harvest Moon BTN Jeff is Karen’s Dad. If you can get over these differences then you should have an enjoyable experience, but one who is used to the Back to Nature and other similar Harvest Moon games might have a level of confusion. The only negatives I have about this game are the character movement. I understand the game was made in 1999, but the characters do not even walk and when you enter a building and come outside the characters just “disappear”. Another weird glitch is if you are standing outside with your wife, she will never walk inside. If you stand out there until 5am and talk to her she will just reply ZZZZZZZZZ and when you walk inside, she is magically in bed already???? There are some other glitches as well that mostly do not affect the game play, but can become annoying such as some festivals not happening on the days their supposed to. Overall, in closing this is a good game and can be enjoyed by all. 9.0/10 Here is the admin’s consensus:
