There really isn't too many modes in this game at all in fact there is only 4

Normal

Sow the seeds for future multiplayer victories by playing again three computer-controlled opponents in Normal mode. Before you begin, choose your favorite Harvest Moon character from the dozen on the screen and then pick your time limit, difficultly and player color. No matter which time limit you choose , you and your rival farmers always plant and play through four seasons

2 vs. 2

Pair up with an ally and harvest your way to victory in 2v2 mode. Four players take to the field, but they pair up to harvest the biggest batch of crops. Because there are two teams, you'll see two colors in the garden, so it's easier to spot your produce!

Quota

Pick a peck of peppers? How about bundling up a bushel of beans? Quota mode awards points to the players who harvest specific crops, even if the harvesters didn't grow those crops! Check the quota produce on the top screen and at the beginning of each season and you'll see your target crop. You won't earn a lot of points of harvesting other produce so be sure to harvest as many quota crops as you can!

Survival

How long can you be outstanding in the field? You must finish first every time to move on to the next challenge in Survival mode. This is the best more for sharpening skills, especially if you play other modes with human rivals!
