You cannot use Gold to buy any of the items offered here. You only can use Medals. You can convert your Gold into Medals if you like. One Medal costs 10G. It is better to play one of the Casino games to win Medals if you can, however, especially at the start of the game, when gold will be in short supply. A Casino gambling tip is included at the end of this guide. When you purchase the Red Cloak, two more items will be offered: Miracle Glove 100,000,000M Godhand: 100,000,000M Incidentally, you can sell Relax Tea Leaves, the Teleport Stone, Truth Bangle, Love Bangle and Red Cloak to Van for quite a handsome profit. By bargaining with Van, you can obtain over 6000G for a Teleport Stone and up to 400,000G for a Red Cloak. If you sell one of these items, another will appear at the Casino Shop. You cannot have more than one of each in your possession, however. The one exception is Relax Tea Leaves. You can buy as many as you like, filling any slot in your rucksack with 99 of them, if you have the time and patience for it. The profit margin for Relax Tea Leaves is not as great as other items, however. If you have the Teleport Stone, you can go back and forth from the Casino to the Inn, buying and selling Truth Bangles, Love Bangles and/or Red Cloaks again and again throughout the day. There is only one possible catch to this: if you have a Beauty Box, any Accessory purchased at the Casino will be sent directly to the Beauty Box at your Farm, requiring you to take an extra trip to your Farmhouse each time you purchase a new Accessory. Jet's Shop There is a Sprite who runs a Shop in the front section of the Sprite Company Tree. His name is Jet and he stands next to Guts. His shop offers the following items: Harvest Goddess Earrings: 400,000G Restores Stamiina bit by bit. Kappa Earrings: 500,000G Fatigue Recovery up bit by bit. The other items that Jet offers are upgraded Necklaces. You will not see an upgraded Necklace for sale until you have upgraded a number of tools to that level. In other words, when you have upgraded a number of tools to Copper, the Copper Necklace will become available. There are Necklaces for every level of Tool, including Blessed. The only Necklace that does not exist is a Cursed Necklace. Mystrile Necklace: 5000G Van's Shop: Van's Shop is open on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, 28th from 10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Inner Inn. There is an Orange Crate at the end of the corridor where he sets up his stall. Van sells many items that cannot be purchased elsewhere. As in other Harvest Moon games, he is willing to buy items from you as well. You must barter with him when selling any item in order to obtain the best price possible. Van offers: Bodigizer: 500G Bodigizer: XL: 1000G Turbojolt: 1000G Turbojolt XL: 2000G Goddess Brooch S: 50,000G Kappa Brooch S: 50,000G Goddess Hat S: 200,000G Kappa Hat S: 200,000G Television: 5000G DVD Player: 10,000G DVD 100G Later he will offer: Goddess Brooch M: 100,000G Kappa Brooch M: 100,000G Goddess Hat M: 500,000G Kappa Hat M: 500,000G After you have a child, he will offer: DVD Fairy and Me 100G Note that Van buys items as well as selling them. You must barter with him to obtain the best prices. Items that bring a decent profit from Van include all jewelry, cabbage, accessories from the Casino Window and any size of fish. Van will offer up to 16500G for a Truth Bangle, up to 1569G for Relax Tea Leaves and up to 3270G for jewelry. (He may offer more for these items, but these are high prices I have experienced myself.) The option to Sell Items will be at the end of the list when you address him from the other side of the counter. A new menu next to your rucksack menu then will be displayed. Your options will be: Choose One All Back If you highlight 'Choose', you will be able to move the Cursor to any stack of items in your rucksack, then choose the number of items in that slot that you wish to sell. Make certain that you do the maths before you accept his price, however. If you highlight 'One', then his price will be for one item only. If you highlight 'All', then his price will be for every item in that slot. 'Choose' is the option you want if you wish to sell only some of the items in any particular slot. CAUTION: If you choose the option to 'Choose' and offer to sell more than one of any particular item, Van will say: 'I would buy one for .....G but... will you sell it to me?' Please be aware that he is not offering to pay that amount for ONE but for the particular lot that you have offered to sell. In other words, if you have offered to sell 2 chokers to him, his quote will be for both chokers. Once you upgrade your crops and have the seedmaker, you can sell your upgraded seeds as well as crops to Van. You will not make as much of a profit if you sell the seeds actually as each bag of seeds has the potential to create nine upgraded plants. If it is a crop with multiple harvests, you really will make more profit if you plant the seeds. If, however, you are interested in growing a higher level of crop each time you plant seeds, you can sell extra bags of upgraded seeds to Van. There are few ordinary items that interest Van. For the most part, he pays less than shipping value for regular Level 1 crops. He does like Fish, however, and will pay more than the shipping value for each size of fish. For a Small Fish, Van will pay up to 319G. For a medium Fish, Van will pay up to 769G. For a Large Fish, Van will pay up to 1317G. Remember that these are representative high prices, and it is possible that Van may offer slightly more in any case for an item. Incidentally, Van likes to haggle, so you will not lose any FP with him by striking a hard bargain for your goods. Cheese and Yarn are items that Van values as well. If you catch Pirate Treasure and Fossil of Fish, Van will pay far more for these than their shipping value. Vesta's Shop Open from 4.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Closed on Monday Vesta's Shop is situated to the left of her farmhouse, on the eastern side of the bridge. Although she sells the same Crop seeds as those sold by Karen's Supermarket, she sells saplings for fruit trees and Shitake mushroom spores as well. Saplings and mushroom spores cannot be purchased anywhere else. As in Karen's Supermarket, crop seeds are sold only in the season in which they can be grown, but saplings and Shitake seeds always are available. The Shitake spores only become available once you have a Mushroom House. In Spring: Turnip Seeds 120 G (5 days, single crop) Potato Seeds 150G (8 days, single crop) Cucumber Seeds 200G (8 days, 2 days until next harvest) Strawberry Seeds 200G (7 days, 2 days until next harvest) In Summer: Tomato Seeds 200G Corn Seeds 300G Pumpkin Seeds 500G Onion Seeds 150G In Autumn: Carrot Seeds 300G Eggplant Seeds 120G Sweet Potato (Yam) Seeds 300G Spinach Seeds 200G Saplings: Peach Seeds 3000G (58 days, fruit in Summer) Banana Seeds 2500G (40 days, fruit in Summer) Orange Seeds 2800G (43 days, fruit in Summer)) Apple Trees 1500G (52 days, fruit in Autumn) Grape Seeds 2700G (58 days, fruit in Autumn) When you have a Mushroom House, Vesta will offer: Shiitake Seeds: 3000G Shopping Network As in FoMT and MFoMT, the items that you can purchase only through the Shopping Network on the television are vital to your success. In this game, however, you will be required to unlock the Channel before you ever will be able to order anything. To do this, buy an item from Karen's Supermarket for 10 days. The Sprite who is in charge of Channel 2 will be rescued by this and will begin to air the Shopping Network. His name is Venus. He is part of the Planetary Team. The Planetary Team is in charge of the Sprite Station Network. You then need to order the Round Table from the Shopping Channel. It costs 500G. Until you have this table, you will not be allowed to expand your Farmhouse. Once you have the Round Table, you will be able to order your first House expansion from Gotz. Although the Shopping Channel will air daily, it will offer an item that mortals can buy only once each week. The other days, it will offer an item for Harvest Sprites, available only to those who have kurobos to spend. Unlike FoMT/MFoMT, there is no special day when the item for mortals is offered. If you order an item, you will be required to wait a week before the next item is offered, but other than that, there is no specific day when you must watch the Shopping Channel. You will be able to watch the Shopping Channel as soon as you awaken, but you will not be able to order the item by telephone until the Shopping Network opens at 10.00 a.m. Oddly enough, the only requirement for offer of the Big Bed in this game is that you expand your house a second time. You need not purchase a Kitchen at all. In fact, the Big Bed will be offered as soon as you have your second expansion. A kitchen is important for many reasons, but buying a Kitchen is not a prerequisite for the offer of the Big Bed in this game. In fact, if you are anxious to purchase a Kitchen, do NOT expand your house twice until the Shopping Channel has had a chance to offer the Kitchen. If you expand your house twice, the Big Bed will be the next item offered. In point of fact, as soon as you make an expansion to your house, the Shopping Channel will begin to offer the next level of item. This means that, should you expand your house for the first time before the Clock or Tool Box are offered, the Refrigerator, Shelf, Kitchen and kitchen appliances will be offered instead. This requires you to make a strategical decision as to when to expand your house for the first time if you are desperate for the Tool Box. In my own opinion, however, the Refrigerator, Shelf, Kitchen and Kitchen Appliances are far more useful than the Tool Box at the start of the game. Here is a list of all the Items you can buy from the Shopping Channel: Beauty Box 2500G Round Table 500G Clock 2000G Tool Box 2000G When you have your First House Expansion: Refrigerator 2500G Cabinet 2500G Kitchen 4000G Pot 1000G Frying Pan 1200G Pot 1000G Oven 2500G Mixer 1200G Steamer 2000G When you have your Second House Expansion: Big Bed 10,000G Mineral Town Shops By using your telephone, you will have access to the businesses and shops in Mineral Town. Mineral Town Shops will be shut on days when Festivals occur in Mineral Town, by the way, so if you ever receive a message to the effect that: 'No one's answering. Seems it's a special holiday', it is because there is a Festival in Mineral Town that is not celebrated in the Valley. One such Festival occurs on 3 Fall. In Mineral Town, this is the day of the Music Festival, when every one gathers in the Church to enjoy a musical performance. The only indication you will have in the Valley, however, is the telephone message you will receive if you attempt to contact a shop in Mineral Town. Poultry Farm Hours: 11.00 a.m.- 4.00 p.m. Closed on Sundays Popuri takes orders by telephone and offers: Bird Feed 10G Animal Medicine 1000G Buy a Chicken 1500G Touch Glove 1000G If you have birds to sell, her prices for an ordinary Level 1 adult bird are: Chicken: 500G Duck: 1000G Only birds who have won prizes sell for higher prices. If you intend to buy items from Grey as well as ordering a tool upgrade, buy the other items first. As soon as you order a tool upgrade, his shop will close! If you order a Maker Barn from Gotz, once it is completed, Saibara will offer Makers: Mayonnaise Maker 20,000G Cheese Maker: 20,000G Yoghurt Maker: 20,000G Yarn Maker: 20,000G Seed Maker: 20,000G Can Food Maker: 20,000G N.B. For each Maker, the cost is 20,000G and a piece of Adamantite. Tool Upgrades: To upgrade a tool from basic to copper costs 1000G and takes 1 day. To upgrade a tool from basic to silver costs 2000G and takes 2 days. To upgrade a tool from copper to silver costs 2000G and takes 1 day. To upgrade a tool from copper to gold costs 3000G and takes 2 days. To upgrade a tool from copper to mystrille costs 5000G and takes 3 days. To upgrade a tool from mystrile to mythic costs 50,000G and takes 3 days. These are only a few examples to illustrate the cost of tool upgrades. . Makers In this version of Harvest Moon, you need to ask Gotz to build a special Maker Barn before you will be able to purchase any Makers from Grey at Saibara's Smithy. You will not be able to order this Barn until you have at least one Barn for Poultry and one for Animals. You need not have upgraded your house, however. Once Gotz builds the Maker Barn, the Makers that then will be available for order are: Mayonnaise Maker The Mayonnaise Maker is to be found in other Harvest Moon games like FoMT/MFoMT. It converts eggs into mayonnaise. It is a little less convenient in this game as your Mayonnaise Maker in FoMT/MFoMT was situated inside the chicken coop. Now you must go to the Maker Barn if you wish to use any of the Makers. As you can make Mayonnaise in your Kitchen, it is not as usual a Maker as most of the others. Cheese Maker: The Cheese Maker produces cheese from Milk. Cheese is far more valuable than milk and many individuals love Cheese. It is used extensively in cooking as well. You will need a Cheese Maker. Remember, however, that Sprites are rescued when you ship specific quantities of milk, eggs and wool. You therefore need to ship a number of raw ingredients as well as processed items. Yoghurt: The Yoghurt Maker converts milk into yoghurt. The profit margin is not as great with yoghurt as with Cheese, however, and it is not as popular as Cheese with other characters. Yarn Maker: The Yarn Maker produces yarn from wool. It is a vital piece of equipment if you wish to obtain a Yule Stocking. Moreover, Yarn is far more valuable than wool. Remember that you must ship specific quantities of milk, eggs and wool, however, rather than processed items, in order to rescue Sprites. Seedmaker: The seedmaker converts crops and flowers into seeds, and is similar to the Seedmaker in AWL/AnWL. The real virtue of the Seedmaker is that it is capable of taking a higher grade of crop or fruit and producing a higher grade of seed from it. Moreover, having a seedmaker is the only way to obtain flower seeds in this game. Sadly, you cannot feed wild items like wild grapes or grasses into it. You can feed mushrooms into it, however, and then grow your own mushrooms in a Mushroom House. Cannery or Can Food Maker: The Cannery is a machine that converts crops into tinned goods and ships them automatically. You will not be able to keep the food when it has been processed. The only virtue of the Cannery is that it increases the value of any item by 150%. Unlike the Seedmaker, which discriminates and will not make seeds from wild items, the Cannery will accept ANY item, including wild grasses, mushrooms, and even flowers and fish! Any item thrown into the Cannery machine counts towards your shipping total, so it is a good idea to can EVERYTHING that you intend to ship once you have this wonderful machine. Incidentally, every 'recipe' item is included in your Shipping List. You cannot ship 'cooked items' directly through any shipping container, but you can ship them through the Cannery. To complete your Shipping List, ship one of each Recipe item through the Cannery. (You can place cooked items in your Basket and then dump the contents into a shipping container if you do not have the Cannery.) N.B. If you study your Farm Menu, you will see a separate chart for every item that is on your Shipping List. Access that chart to see how many items at each level you have shipped as well as the shipping method. For example, for Cucumbers, you will see a listing for every level from 1 to 99. Next to each level are the Methods of Shipping as well as a place to record any Giant crops you have harvested. There are four different possibilities: Normal, Big, Can, ALL. For any item that cannot be designated in such a fashion, Xs are placed in every spot where an entry ordinarily would be made. An O is placed in every spot that designates a successful completion of the goal. There is a curious anomaly in this game wherein any cooked item shipped through the Cannery will complete the shipping chart for that item, filling both the 'Normal' and the 'Can' spaces, but a cooked item shipped via the basket will not complete the chart as the Can space will remain blank. If, therefore, you do not wish to ship more than one of any cooked item, ship it through the Cannery in order to complete the Shipment chart. To access the Shipment Chart for any item in the Shipping List, tap the icon of the item itself. To access the name of any item on the list, tap the number shipped instead. Accessing individual items in the Shipping List in this game can be annoying as it takes forever to scroll down the list and there appears to be no way to speed up the process. Blue Bar: Hours: 5.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. Closed on Wednesday Water: 0G Morning Mist: 400G (Stamina: +1 Fatigue: -30) Spring Time 400G (no effect on SR or FR) Summer Heat: 300G (Stamna: +1 Fatigue: -20) Fall Colours: 300G (Stamiina: +1 Fatigue: -22) Winter Blast: 350G (Stamina: +1 Fatigue: -20) Fresh Breeze: 300G (Stamina: +2 Fatigue: -20) Bodiaid: 250G (Stamina: +1 Fatigue: -15) ABC: 350G (Stamina: +3 Fatigue: -25) Moomoo Milk: 300G (Stamina: +1 Fatigue: -21) Later, more items may become available: Moo Milk: 300G (Stamina +2 Fatigue -20) If you experience an event at the Blue Bar after Muffy and Griffin marry, there will be a new drink afterwards: Sweet Dreams 300G (Stamina +1 Fatigue -20) As you can see, none of these beverages is particularly effective in restoring your Stamina but quite potent in reducing your Fatigue. Kai's Concession Stand: Hours: 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. in Summer Closed on Rainy Days Water: 0G Baked Corn: 250G (Stamina +20 -3 Fatigue) Spaghetti: 300G (Stamina +30 Fatigue -5) Pizza: 250G (Stamina +30 Fatigue -3) Shaved Ice: 300G (Stamina +1 Fatigue -20) In other words, buy a Shaved Ice for Fatigue and a Pizza or dish of Spaghetti to increase your Stamina and you will be in good shape.
