Getting Married
Marriage

In order to marry, you must have experienced all 4 heart events for the girl of your dreams and you must have expanded your house twice so that you can purchase the 'Big Bed'. You must have rescued 60 Sprites as well, thereby 'rescuing' the Harvest Goddess who presides over all weddings. When any girl reaches 50,000 AP (orange heart level), the Blue Feather will become available at Karen's Supermarket. When you have met all these requirements, equip the Blue Feather as a tool and visit the girl of your choice. Flourish the Blue Feather to experience a special Proposal Event. If you have met every requirement, the girl will accept your proposal. Your wedding will occur one week later at the Beach. After the wedding, the credits will roll in typical Natsume style, but the game does NOT come to an end. You will resume gameplay the day after the wedding, once you have agreed upon a style of address, an endearment for your wife to use whenever she speaks to you. Incidentally, the text of all Marriage Proposal Events is included in my Heart Events Guide, which you can find at: Harvest Moon DS Heart and Rival Heart Events Guide Family Life The 'Circle of Life' is very much a part of the philosophy of Harvest Moon and marriage ideally leads to parenthood. It does not do so inevitably, however. You must keep your spouse at 60,000 AP (deepest red heart level) or above for a full season before your wife will become pregnant. When the happy event occurs, she will awaken in the morning feeling ill. You will experience an event wherein you take her to Dr. Hardy's house and clinic to discover that she is 'expecting'. The Blessed Event will occur after two seasons of pregnancy. The day before your child is to be born, your wife will make an announcement. When your child is born, he will not spend any time as a true infant (as in FoMT or MFoMT) but will become a toddler at once. There are five different 'styles' of child, and the one you have is predicated upon your choice of spouse. As you might expect, marriage to Flora or Muffy will give you a son with blonde hair, marriage to Celia or Lumina will give you a child with brown hair and marriage to Nami will result in a redhead. Each spouse has a child with different clothing, so although Celia and Lumina both give birth to sons with dark hair, Celia's son will have a green outfit and Flora's son will wear a red and purple striped outfit. If you would like to see all the different types of children, you can refer to the Harvest Moon card decks. They not only show the child as toddler, but as adolescent and adult as well. The cards that depict your child are those from 054 through 068. 054, 055 and 056: Kid Type A as Baby, Young and Adult. This child has light blonde hair. 057, 058 and 059: Kid Type B as Baby, Young and Adult. This child has reddish brown hair, almost auburn. 060, 061 and 062: Kid Type C as Baby, Young and Adult. This child has darker brown hair. 063, 064 and 065: Kid Type D as Baby, Young and Adult. This child has lighter brown hair. 066, 067 and 068: Kid Type E as Baby, Young and Adult. This child has almost reddish blonde hair. Obviously, you can find these cards in all five 'suits'. If you marry a 'magical girl', your child's appearance will be chosen randomly. In such a case, make certain that you save your game the night before the birth, so that you can reload if the child is not born with your favourite hair colour. You will resume gameplay after your son is born, but in the fashion of AWL, the game will move forward automatically by three years. When you explore the Valley then, you will find Barney's Circus at the construction site. When you visit Galen, you will find that Nina has died, leaving him a grieving widower. Hugh and Kate will be three years older as well, and Kate will have aspirations to become a writer. Your child will develop through two more stages, from young boy to adolescent. Even as an adult, your son will not help you on the farm, nor will he ever marry or have his own family. This is a disappointment once again to all Harvest Moon fans who keep hoping that the extra set of tools you obtain will have some real use!
