Expansions and Upgrades

Accepting Expansion Request Basics

At the beginning of the game, no matter which town you choose, you have very limited space on your farm. You can see screenshots of both farms right at day one in our Maps section of the guide. Although the farm is small, you will have enough room to get started with some room for animals and spaces to plant a few crops. But do not dispair! There is a way to make your farm bigger! Eileen, the resident carpenter who lives in Bluebell will visit your farm on Spring 12th Year 1 to tell you about expanding your farm along with the buildings on your farm to boot.

Starting on the 1st of Summer, Year 1, you will be able to accept a farm expansion request. Eileen will post one on the Bluebell Request Board at the beginning of each season, starting with Summer Year 1 as already stated. It will stand out, it should be a dark purple colored request with a big gold star on it. There are a couple extra steps to getting the request from her then with the normal requests from other villagers. First you must accept the request, and then take it to Eileen. Her home is just East of Bluebell Town Hall.

After you talk to Eileen she will ask what you would like to renovate/build and you will usually get 2-3 different options. Keep in mind that the option to renovate your house is available right away, but it is quite impossible to choose that option and complete it this early in the game because you need 1 millionG! So make sure to save that one for later. Eileen will only offer upgrades for the farm you are living on at the start of the season. As you already know, most requests give you 3-5 days to complete them. But since these requests are more important you will have a full season, 31 days, to complete it. In this time you can collect the materials she needs and make the extra G if you are short by a few when you take the request.

If you fail to complete an expansion request before the end of the season, do not worry! You will get another chance to get the same upgrade. I know this from personal experience. when I first started playing I wasn;t paying attention and selected the House Upgrade, and was worried that I messed my entire game up, luckily, after a couple seasons the option to renovate my house was back. Also the expansion requests also include the requests to clear the tunnel. When you get the heart meter up to certain levels between the 2 mayors by participating in cooking festivals, requests to clear the tunnel will take the place of farm expansions for that season. So if you go to Fall 1st, go to see what requests you have and Eileen has posted a request to clear the tunnel you will NOT be able to expand your farm that season.

You will get different expansions for each farm that focus on the town you chose to live in. For example, If you live in Bluebell most of the expansions will focus on raising livestock and chickens, while in Konohana, the expansions focus on raising crops. The different expansions you can get for each farm and what you will need to get them, will be listed below. The letters in the request names are the rank of the request and the difficulty thereof. It goes in order of:

S= Hard
B= Medium
C= Easy
D= Very Easy

It is best when you start off to stick with the D rank requests and work your way up as the higher the rank the more money and materials you will need to complete them. As you will note, you have to do some expansions to make the rest available. As an example with the Maker Shed in Bluebell. You will have to complete quite a few expansions before you will be able to make it. Keep in mind too since Eileens requests require Stone Material and Lumber, you will have had to completed Shengs requests for the Axe and the Hammer. You can check for these on the Konohana Request Board. Sometimes he posts them in the middle of the season as well as at the beginning.
